Nordeste, Tottori University, Faculty of Agriculture, Animal Medical Center, regarding joint research.

As a veterinary hospital affiliated with a veterinary university, Tottori University Faculty of Agriculture Animal Medical Center plays a role as a "university hospital for animals" that not only conducts education and research, but also receives requests from practicing veterinarians as a leader of highly specialized and advanced veterinary medicine and provides medical care.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR TOMOHIRO OSAKI, WHO IS AT THE FOREFRONT OF VETERINARY SURGICAL MEDICINE AND TREATS ANIMALS ON A DAILY BASIS, AND OUR COMPANY HAVE STARTED A JOINT RESEARCH TO VERIFY THE ANTI-AGING EFFECT OF NMN (NICOTINAMIDE MONONUCLEOTIDE) IN DOGS AND CATS AS PART OF RESEARCH TO PREVENT DISEASES CAUSED BY AGING IN PETS AND REALIZE HEALTHY LONGEVITY. WE HAVE STARTED A JOINT RESEARCH TO VERIFY THE ANTI-AGING EFFECT OF NMN (NICOTINAMIDE MONONUCLEOTIDE) ON DOGS AND CATS.

[Research Background

As communication with pets becomes more intense than ever against the backdrop of the new coronavirus disaster, there is a noticeable trend toward proactive care for the longevity of pets as well as their families.

The average life expectancy of dogs and cats in 2021 will be 14.65 years for dogs and 15.66 years for cats*¹, with life expectancy increasing by 0.78 years for dogs and 1.3 years for cats over the past decade.

On the other hand, the average life expectancy that owners want their pets to live was 16.1 years for dog owners and 17.7 years for cat owners in the 2015 survey, about two years longer than the actual average life expectancy, and about 80% of owners said they want to extend the life of their pets so that they are healthy and care-free. *²

*¹Surveyed by the Pet Food Association of Japan (2021 National Survey on Dog and Cat Ownership)

*²INVESTIGATION BY THE PET LONGEVITY NATION PROJECT (2015 SURVEY ON AGING AND CARE OF PETS) TO RESPOND TO THE DESIRE FOR HEALTHY LONGEVITY OF PETS, ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OSAKI AND HIS COLLEAGUES DECIDED TO CONDUCT A JOINT STUDY IN WHICH NMN, WHICH HAS BEEN REPORTED AS AN ANTI-AGING INGREDIENT IN MANY HUMAN AND MOUSE ANTI-AGING STUDIES IN RECENT YEARS, IS ADMINISTERED TO DOGS AND CATS AND VARIOUS MARKERS OF ANTI-AGING EFFECTS EXPECTED TO EXTEND THEIR LIFESPAN ARE MEASURED. IN RESPONSE TO THE DESIRE FOR A LONGER LIFE SPAN, ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OSAKI AND HIS COLLEAGUES DECIDED TO CONDUCT A JOINT STUDY TO MEASURE VARIOUS MARKERS OF THE ANTI-AGING EFFECT OF NMN.

Research

NMN IS ADMINISTERED TO MIDDLE-AGED AND ELDERLY DOGS AND CATS FOR 2 MONTHS. BLOOD SAMPLES WILL BE TAKEN BEFORE AND AFTER ADMINISTRATION, AND BLOOD TESTS AND VARIOUS HORMONE TESTS WILL BE CONDUCTED. WE WILL ALSO CONDUCT A QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY ON CHANGES IN THE ANIMALS' CONDITION, ANALYZE THE OBTAINED RESEARCH DATA, AND EVALUATE THE ANTI-AGING EFFECTS OF NMN.

[REGARDING NMN IN NORDESTE].

NORDESTE PROVIDES DOMESTICALLY PRODUCED AND HIGH-PURITY NMN POWDER. WE CONTRIBUTE TO THE FUTURE OF HEALTH AND MEDICINE THROUGH ACADEMIC QUALITY RAW MATERIALS USED IN VARIOUS MEDICAL AND RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS.
